Technology is Evolving, and iPhones are Evolving with it

On November 3, 2017, when the iPhone X came out, technology changed seeing as this new iPhone didn’t have a home button, it had a digital bar that you use by swiping upwards, is this an upgrade or a downgrade?

Many people still prefer an iPhone with a home button. A lot of people still kept their iPhone 8’s after this upgrade came out because of personal preference. Now, in 2022, the iPhone 8 cannot be bought anymore. The only way to get an iPhone with a home button is if you buy the iPhone SE. The iPhone SE is the smallest iPhone for sale. With this new upgrade they have removed a classic feature, Touch ID, but they have replaced it with Face ID. They are not that different but some people still prefer Touch ID over Face ID and always will. Apple has also told us that they will launch the 3rd generation of the iPhone SE within the first quarter of 2022. Apple is trying to make new iPhones completely digital, without any physical buttons. The home button was originally removed by Samsung when they made the Galaxy S8 on April 2, 2017. This new “upgrade” has also changed features like manually activating Siri seeing as there is no home button to press. Now you have to hold down the side button. In order to take a screenshot you now have to press the side and power buttons at the same time rather than the home and power buttons. It seems like the iPhone SE line will be the only line of Apple products with a home button.

Whether you should upgrade your iPhone is completely up to you and your personal preference. Without the home button you do get more space for apps which is more efficient for organizing your iPhone however, you cannot use Touch ID. No more opening up your iPhone while wearing sunglasses! Overall, this new “upgrade” is going to change technology (hopefully) for the better.
