THE DEATH OF THE DINOS

We know that the dinosaurs died around 65 million years ago, but no one really knows how they died, there are many theories but the most popular one, and the one that has been almost fully proven is that they died was from a massive 6 mile long meteor crashing into the face of the super continent Pangaea that they lived on, killing all of the dinosaurs. Other ideas suggest that there was a massive fire and the smoke from it caused the dinosaurs to suffocate and die out, another says a huge rise in temperature caused all of the dinosaurs to not be able to adapt fast enough and make them all die.

People think that the in Chicxulub, Mexico was a result of the meteor crash. We don’t yet know what the massive crater meteor is made of but we do know how many animals it killed. People wonder how a meteor that only hit a small part of the land mass, but people don’t know that the creator was 110 miles wide, and to help the theory, people think that the blast caused fires to spread to through the continent and kill the dinosaurs farther away, as well as making volcanoes erupt and causing earthquakes.

The most well know species that survived the meteor, that you probably forgot about are birds, yep, birds.  So technically birds are the oldest animals on Earth, along with various underwater animals that we don’t know about. But the birds back then would look way more different than they do now. They would be bigger, faster, but because of its size it may not be able to fly. I think that it is so fascinating that birds are the longest living animal, what we now think as dumb animals were alive way before we came.  By Quinn Horton
